You have a story. It deserves to be told.
For centuries, people gathered around fires to share stories: tales of adventure, moments of courage and change, relationships that shaped them and experiences that stayed with them forever.
We may not be travelling by donkey from one roadside inn to the next anymore, but we still have our stories.
Fireside Stories is a six-week course created by writer and performer Tamar Broadbent, designed to take you from the spark of an idea to confidently sharing your story with a live audience.
Through a supportive and playful combination of public speaking, narrative structure, improvisation and creative writing exercises, you'll discover how to shape your experiences into a compelling piece that captivates listeners.
Whether your story is funny, moving, extraordinary, or beautifully ordinary, you'll learn how to bring it to life.
No previous writing or performance experience is required. All you need is a story you'd like to explore and the curiosity to learn how to tell it.
The course culminates in an informal sharing event, where participants will have the opportunity to perform their work for an invited audience of friends, family and supporters in a welcoming and encouraging environment.
Come and discover the power of storytelling, connect with others through shared experiences and find your voice around the modern-day fireside.
Course dates: 10am-1pm, 17/24/31 October and 14/21/28th November.
(The course incorporates an at-home writing session on 7th November).
